20 Beautiful Things that are true about you

You are something - and someone - very special.
You really are.
No one else in this entire world is exactly like you, and there are so many beautiful things about you...

You're a one-of-a-kind treasure, uniquely here in this space and time.
You are here to shine in your own wonderful way, sharing your smile in the best way you can, and remembering all the while that a little light somewhere makes a brighter light everywhere.
You can - and you do - make a wonderful contribution to this world.

You have qualities within you that many people would love to have, and those who really and truly know you... are so glad that they do.
You have a big heart and a good and sensitive soul.
You are gifted with thoughts and ways of seeing things that only special people know.

You know that life doesn't always play by the rules, but that in the long run, everything will work out.

You understand that you and your actions are capable of turning anything around - and that joys once lost can always be found. There is a resolve and an inner reserve of strength in you that few ever get to see.
You have so many treasures within - those you're only beginning to discover, and all the ones you're already aware of.

Never forget what a treasure you are.
That special person in the mirror may not always get to hear all the compliments you so sweetly deserve, but you are so worthy of such an abundance of friendships, joy and love.

Guest post: Self-Sabotage

I'm so excited to introduce my first guest blogger, the gorgeous soulful spirited healer Colleen Van Heerden. Yesterday, on the blog (read here), I thanked her for the wonderful healing she'd done on my dodgy leg and the balance she'd brought back into my life. Something I will forever be grateful for!

Today she's done this refreshingly honest post for me on self-sabotage - a topic I've been meaning to blog about for ages but blessed that she's beat me to it....

Self-sabotage, guest post, Midlands house of healing

Hi, My name is Colleen van Heerden and I am working on my self sabotaging behavior.

I really didn’t quite understand the concept of this. It is only for the last 7 years that I started to grasp it within myself.

I used to be very overweight, weighing 114kg in total. I struggled to walk up stairs, I struggled to run, cycle and do any exercise. I reached a stage of : I don’t want to be fat anymore, its exhausting. Coming to this deep realization made me feel shame, guilt and disgust as I really didn’t comprehend how I became so fat. The answers I found were scary but I discovered I self sabotage myself. It sounds simple but it’s a complex topic.

When I was unhappy, I ate. When I was sad, I ate. When I was happy, I ate, anything from roasted bbq chicken from Woolworths to Macdonalds. “Slap” chips was part of my weekly diet. I also found that when I had to subdue my intuition and submit to my boss or grandmother, I ate. It felt comforting to eat and feel good, when I emotionally didn’t feel good at all, I also felt uncomfortable in my clothes.

I cried when I had to buy new clothes or shoes, as the person staring back at me in the cubicle wasn’t who I “felt” or who I pictured myself to be.

I felt I needed to address my self sabotaging issues. I made a decision in 2008,  when I returned from India that I would become more me. The person I feel within. I started jumping on my trampoline, in our room, I did this for 20 minutes everyday. When I felt confident enough I started walking in the mornings, everyday.

It felt good to take back my control, to address my self sabotaging issues.

I also started eating less chocolates and chips, I started addressing my feelings of sadness, anger, bitterness, and shame.

Truth be told : “Im an introvert” – I don’t like talking as it is a waste of energy, so learning to speak my truth was a very big lesson for me.

My next lesson was affirming my boundary of saying NO! and meaning it.

I learnt as a fat person, I’m a people pleaser, I love everyone being happy and pleased, however this isn’t a good thing. I was self sacrificing myself to keep others happy, then feeling resentful and bitter.

I had to learn to affirm saying no and explaining why in a non-invasive way.

Part of addressing my self sabotage was taking full responsibility for where I was at.

I embarked on a journey to heal myself and help others do the same.

My method of therapy was both reiki and massage. I started reiking myself to heal the little girl within, and then progressed to my current time in life.

This helped shift so many barriers and helped me address the self sabotage pattern of overeating and learning to become the new me.

Now, I still have my moments, but I have learnt to love me more, to write more, to reiki me more, to address any issue that pops up.

I’ve learnt to own my “shit” and deal with what I need to, in a warm and loving way.

Self sabotage is a pattern that we inherit from being subdued as kids by adults who are not creative, not intuitive or consciously aware of what they are doing, they are just in “survival” mode of getting through the day.

It is up to us to tap into ourselves and use our creative force wisely so the inner brat of self sabotage, doesn’t take over and create chaos in our lives.

This is me before & after Self-Sabotaging....

Colleen Van Heerden, Midlands house of healing, reiki
Self Sabotage examples:
Over mothering your partner
Saying yes but meaning no
Self neglect  diet, exercise, nurturing, self love
Destructive patterns : “bad” relationships
Addiction Drugs : usage of any : smoking, drinking, taking recreational drugs
Not speaking your truth
Subduing your spirit with any substance
Lack of Discipline
Subscribing to being a Victim

Addressing your Inner brat to beating Self Sabotage
Discipline : DO self talk sessions with you
Self love : Make Life affirming decisions for you
Taking time out for you
Writing
Painting
Being creative
Nurturing your spirit
Laughing more
Joy filled life
Gratitude
Peace filled
Being Victorious within you for you

I am on this journey of addressing my inner self, so I can become my true self. Wishing you love on your journey.

Crtl + Alt + Reboot at the Midlands House of Healing

Ever feel like your mind, your body and your soul need a reset button?

At the end of last year my body, mind and soul were completely off balance - I'd moved countries, struggled to find work, stared my fear of driving in the face and almost ended it with my boyfriend. Seriously it was like the bossy fat kid had taken over in the playground and thought it would be funny to weight down my side of the seesaw and I was so over it!

Being over it led me to Colleen, a gorgeous soulful spirited healer in the Midlands with the most infectious belly fueled laugh, like ever ever! Meeting Colleen was like a looooooong overdue date with a friend I'd actually known forever.

I drove into Khululeka, Colleen's heaven of an office, with a gazillion butterflies in my stomach - yes I was nervous despite the many hours of Reiki research (love me a little Google) I'd done the week and night before! As I stepped out of my car I was instantly wrapped up in a bundle of love that set all the trapped butterflies free and I knew that from the moment of that bear hug that I was in good hands!

I've since been back to Colleen three times, my last being possibly my most favourite and the one with definitely the most healing. Yes I am a healer. First sign of being a healer - heal quickly - very receptive.

On Saturday I was treated to the most delightful hour and bit of holistic massage - an hour and a bit of pure absolute bliss. From the backs of my legs to the prickly nerves on my head I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it!

Towards the end of the session, while Colleen was massaging my front upper thigh, she noticed a whole load of no good in my muscles to which I had to sheepishly confess would probably due to an ankle injury I'd never properly let heal 8 years ago. I also shared my thoughts of 'off balance' that I felt it had caused in my life and something that had always stuck in the back of my mind. She chuckled at my sheepish confession, then said, any healing is possible if you let it and so with her magic wands she erased the muscle memory in my right leg bringing it back to a moment in time it was strong and balanced. She prescribed 3 days of rest, healing and no exercise. It was extremely difficult to say no to my running partner on Monday morning but I'm so glad I did because my body is feeling strong and the sciatic nerve I've had for a year or two now has completely gone. I'll be heading out for a run today and I just know it's going to be a good one!

What I love the most is how Colleen closes our sessions, it's like visiting the library of spiritual healing. Not only do I get a massage I also get some mind loving with a few books to take away and get completely lost in. After Saturday's session I've got a bit of the Dalai Lama, The Gratitude Effect and loving my spirit to keep me company till my next visit which can't come fast enough.

After a session at The Midlands House of Healing something deep within me lights up, calms down, gets reconnected and fires my soul.

On Saturday I floated out there like a true Goddess of peace and beauty and have felt the positive effects every single day this week. Saying thank you doesn't seem good enough for the wonders that this lady has done for me but I'll say it anyway...

Thank you Colleen! I look forward to seeing you again this Saturday.

Dear South Africa

Last week I did a post to London to let her know how much I missed her, how I missed her energy and the dear friends she still holds in her embrace. It was a nostalgic post brought on by watching the movie 'About Time' and it made me very sad to think that that part of my life is over.

This week however I'm loving what is and where I am....

Dear South Africa,

Thank you for a 2 minute commute to work, to the gym and to the grocery store.

Thank you for lazy scorching hot sunny days and Sunday's spent by the swimming pool.

Thank you for beautifully ripe and tasty avocados.

Thank you for 'family' lunches, dinners, tea & cake and what the heck visits.

Thank you for sparrows fart runs.

Thank you for fresh mint, ripe lemons and juicy oranges fresh from my garden.

Thank you for Nik Naks, Cheesecurls, Creme soda and Bilton that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

Thank you for Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Braais.

Thank you for Spur and proper Chicken Schnitzel.

Thank you for clear blue skies and green green grass, cliche I know but oh so true!

Thank you for after work braais at Midmar and surprise visits from my Mum.

Thank you for weekend visits to the Drakensberg gardens and time with my sister and her family.

Thank you for my wheels, I still can't believe I've got them. Everyday I say thank you that I get to drive around in my car.

Thank you for endless amounts of space.

Thank you for early morning rises and breakfast at the table before work.

and lastly Thank you for bringing me home, keeping me safe and truly making me happy.

South Africa you totally Rock!

I'm lovin' overnight oats

Overnight oats in a jar would have been perfect to eat, with sleepy eyes, at my 9-5 desk and I'm so kicking myself for not discovering this genius idea a little earlier... like maybe say when I used to live in London and couldn't quite muster up enough energy to feed my precious body before work.

I've done a little research and quite a lot of bloggers out there are doing theirs with almond milk, not something that comes cheap here in S.A, so I've been doing mine with water and they taste just as devine!

The simplest way to do them is to put some oats in a jar, cover them with water and leave over night. Then in the morning add a banana, cinnamon, honey, a teaspoon of coconut oil et Voila!

Actually you can add whatever the hell you like as I discovered, with drool dribbling down my chin, the other evening on pinterest!

I'm going to be experimenting with my oats over the coming weeks, so look out for a post soon with recipes and pics of my oating journey.

No money, No gym... No problem!

When I went for an interview at Virgin Active in London there was one fact that really stuck with me and that was that the average gym member goes to the gym 0.01 times per week. Shut the front door... that's not even once a week, a month, a year?!? Nicola that's like never, jeepers are you serious?

Ever wondered how big gyms can continuously sign up new members, like every single day, well now you know. I'm not slating V.A at all, I'm a huge fan, I'm just pointing out that you might and quite possibly just not use that New Year's resolution gym membership (yes it's true) so why not try something different and kinda free this year?

The below list is not just any old random list I pulled off the internet, this is a tried and tested list! I'm a fan of everyone single of these sites and fitness mentors, I use them all the time and love the work that they do! Some I've been a fan of for over 4 years and some I've only just discovered...

Yogaglo
This is a new discovery and I flippin' dig it! Ok so this one is not free but it's a steal at $18 a month for unlimited yoga classes right in the comfort of your own home. You can choose from Astanga to Hatha to Kundalini Yoga and even Yoga for specific parts of your body - perfect for those who run, cycle or want toned arms. There's an online community with new videos added daily so you'll never get bored!

Fitness Blender
I discovered this couple half way through 2013 when I was looking for some easier and new HIIT (high intensity interval training). Each move is demonstrated before performed making it great for beginners and super easy to follow. All their workouts are free however they do sell meal plans and fitness programs if you're looking to get serious!

12 Minute Athlete
Krista believes that life should be enjoyed, not wasted in a gym. Yay a girl after my own heart! 12 minute Athlete is as it says, 12 minutes of exercise daily. Expect burpees, push ups, kettlebell swings, box jumps, skipping and more. 12 minutes sounds easy but let me tell you ain't! Short but sweet, 12 minute athlete, is perfect if you've been moaning about not having the time to exercise.

Bodyrock.tv
Ultimate favie! If you look past the slight sexual nature of the filming and the intimidatingly ripped Lisa you'll achieve one heck of a toned body if you rock out the workouts on this site. Last October I did their 30 day challenge and felt on top of the world (with a little six pack) by the end. It was amaze balls! What I love the most about Bodyrock.tv is the awesome community they have, everyone is so supportive! So if you're keen for a challenge, rock on over because they just started a new challenge on the 15th.

Way of Gray
Sophie Gray's instagram is pure fitness motivation, this girl has an ebook that's apparently ram packed with workouts that can be performed anywhere and are guaranteed to burn calories well after you've finished working out. All her workouts are less than 30 minutes and require no fitness equipment at all! Perfect! Def on my ebook wish list for 2014!

I'd love to know, in the comments below, if you've signed up for a gym membership this year and how many times you've been going or if you've decided to join the online fitness revolution and rock your workout from the comfort of your lounge.

'Cause I'm on top of the world, 'ay

I've given 2014 blogging goals and words to live by and now it's officially time to give it an anthem!

And Imagine Dragon's - On Top of The World is it!

I'm obsessed with the happiness of this song, definitely a bum shaking, smile plastering, memory making tune for 2014!

"On Top Of The World"

If you love somebody
Better tell them while they’re here ’cause
They just may run away from you

You’ll never know quite when, well
Then again it just depends on
How long of time is left for you

I’ve had the highest mountains
I’ve had the deepest rivers
You can have it all but life keeps moving

I take it in but don’t look down

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take you with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.

I’ve tried to cut these corners
Try to take the easy way out
I kept on falling short of something

I coulda gave up then but
Then again I couldn’t have ’cause
I’ve traveled all this way for something

I take it in but don’t look down

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take you with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.

Oooooooo... OoooAhhhhhOoooAhhhhh[2x]

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take you with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child

And I know it’s hard when you’re falling down
And it’s a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now, get up, get up now.

And I know it’s hard when you’re falling down
And it’s a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now, get up, get up now.

‘Cause I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
I’m on top of the world, ‘ay
Waiting on this for a while now
Paying my dues to the dirt
I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay
Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay
Take you with me if I can
Been dreaming of this since a child
I’m on top of the world.

Let's take a shower together

source

Have you read The Impossible HQ blog yet? What? No? Seriously where have you been all this time?! Joel's blog is one of those blogs that you so need to add to your bookmark bar and like never ever ever remove. It's the kick up the butt, pull up your socks kinda motivation that ya just sometimes need.

Joel is a straight shooting, no bullshit kinda guy. He's got a story, just like we all do, but he doesn't let it define him and that's what has me coming back time and time again to get my arse kicked!

He's the guy behind the CST therapy, you know the one that boosts your immune system, promotes fat loss, improves circulation, beats depression, increases fertility, increases energy and even keeps your hair shiny and your skin super soft.

Tick, tick, tick, where can I get me a little some of that therapy you ask?

In your shower, every morning and every evening! Turn the cold tap on and enjoy!

Cold Shower Therapy takes you through all the emotions you experience when you are about to do something that sucks. Emotions like procrastination, fear, laziness and an attitude of what's the point?! You're feeling the resistance that's holding you back from doing the thing that is going to make you a better person!

These emotions come up in our lives all the time. When you sit down to write a blog post, before you peel yourself off the couch to go for a run, starting a new project, making a scary phone call... you know, all the things you know  you should be doing in order for you to become the person you want to become!

CST Therapy is all about changing your mentality.....

'Take cold showers first thing in the morning. As soon as you get up. Jump in the shower. Close your eyes and turn the temperature to cold. Not just cold. Not ice cold. Try we-just-piped-this-water-in-from -Antarctica-because-the-penguins-won’t-swim-in-it-cold. Do this 30 days in a row. I call it cold shower therapy because it, quite literally is a therapy.

The first day you try cold shower therapy, it will suck, you’ll stare at the shower-head for 10 minutes, start crying just thinking about the idea, your heart will begin to beat fast, you might break out into a cold sweat, and if you’re brave, you’ll turn it to cold for a whole 5 seconds before letting out a shriek, and quickly backing out of the challenge and turning the shower back to hot.

The second day, you might get the shower to run cold for a whole 10 seconds, but it’s still too much, so you’ll turn it to hot and try to warm up again.

The third day (or however long it takes you), you stare down the faucet of fear, you grit your teeth and just dive in with everything you have. You turn the temperature to a bone-chilling temperature and let out a few choice words involuntarily (you might want to warn any  roommates that you’re planning on doing this so they know you’re okay).

The big change happens after you decide to actually do it. As you immerse yourself in the water, you welcome the cold. You make sure it gets all over your arms, your legs, the back of your neck, and definitely your crotch. You might yell out a few Tarzan type screams, but once you decide to do it, you lean into it and you’re not afraid of it anymore.'

Ok so what's the deal? Well I've been procrastinating with this challenge for about 2 years now (how embarrassing, can't believe I just admitted that!) and I think it's now time to 'Just dive in' as Joel says and conquer this challenge.

From today, for 28 days, I'll be shunning the hot tap in aid of some much needed CST Therapy and I'd love for you guys to join me.

If you're keen drop me an email or leave a comment in the below and let's show fear just how weak of an emotion it really is!

When I started loving myself...

A poem by Charlie Chaplin written on his 70th birthday on April 16, 1959

When I started loving myself

I understood that I’m always and at any given opportunity
in the right place at the right time.
And I understood that all that happens is right –
from then on I could be calm.
Today I know: It’s called TRUST.

When I started to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody
When I tried to force my desires on this person,
even though I knew the time is not right and the person was not ready for it,
and even though this person was me.
Today I know: It’s called LETTING GO

When I started loving myself
I could recognize that emotional pain and grief
are just warnings for me to not live against my own truth.
Today I know: It’s called AUTHENTICALLY BEING.

When I started loving myself
I stopped longing for another life
and could see that everything around me was a request to grow.
Today I know: It’s called MATURITY.

When I started loving myself
I stopped depriving myself of my free time
and stopped sketching further magnificent projects for the future.
Today I only do what’s fun and joy for me,
what I love and what makes my heart laugh,
in my own way and in my tempo.
Today I know: it’s called HONESTY.

When I started loving myself
I escaped from all what wasn’t healthy for me,
from dishes, people, things, situations
and from everyhting pulling me down and away from myself.
In the beginning I called it the “healthy egoism”,
but today I know: it’s called SELF-LOVE.

When I started loving myself
I stopped wanting to be always right
thus I’ve been less wrong.
Today I’ve recognized: it’s called HUMBLENESS.

When I started loving myself
I refused to live further in the past
and worry about my future.
Now I live only at this moment where EVERYTHING takes place,
like this I live every day and I call it CONSCIOUSNESS.

When I started loving myself
I recognized, that my thinking
can make me miserable and sick.
When I requested for my heart forces,
my mind got an important partner.
Today I call this connection HEART WISDOM.

We do not need to fear further discussions,
conflicts and problems with ourselves and others
since even stars sometimes bang on each other
and create new worlds.

Today I know: THIS IS LIFE!

My running week

Apart from one missed morning run this week I was quite proud of myself! 5km is defintely getting easier and the earlier morning endorphin rush is becoming very addictive. My run on Friday says only 3.57km but really it was about 6.5km...  I just forgot to start my watch. Silly me!

I miss London

Dear London,

I miss you dearly!

I miss your zest for life & how you never stop to rest.

I miss long seated commutes to work, getting lost in a book oblivious to the millions of others you allow into your playground.

I miss your rain, snow & ice cold winters.

I miss the millions of opportunities you gave me to wear scarves, gloves, hats & drink delicious warm soups.

I miss the sexy loneliness you cast over me.

I miss solo dates with you.

I miss hours & hours of long walks with you. Getting lost & discovering something new and fascinating every time.

I miss the endless summer evenings. Drinks in the park & late night dancing.

I miss your carpeted pubs and the grumpy geyser bartenders who always had good stories to tell.

I miss your markets, especially Borough market & all that delicious food on a Saturday morning.

I miss our cheeky after work drinks & #thursdaymess dance offs at The Abbey.

I miss your dodgy kebabs and oily chicken wings at 2am in the morning.

I miss long bus rides, on the top deck, gazing out at the busy people living their lives with you.

I miss your chicken & avocado sandwiches from Pret.

I miss riding your Borris bikes in the summer.

& most of all I miss all those gorgeous friends of mine you still have in your embrace.

London I miss you!

xx

Running isn't just about running!

Source

How funny, I'm sipping a glass of vino while writing out a half marathon training plan, something doesn't seem quite right does it? Well a girl's gotta have some fun before the serious hard sweat starts....

While reviewing a few of my previously set goals I noticed, with a sad sigh, that I hadn't yet ticked off the halfie & fullie yet - yup that's marathons I'm referring to there not bottles of vino! These two race conquests have been gathering a huge amount dust on my impossible list but now, finally, I feel mentally fit enough to claim those medals. I've decided on both of the events that I'd like to take down. First will be the Maritzburg City halfie on Sunday 23rd February and 2nd will be the Mandela Marathon on the 31st August. How's that for planning in advance?!

With the events and dates decided it's now onto the real hard work, yikkeess, I'm sweating just thinking about the mileage I have to put in!

Ok so where do I start and what is this work I need to do in order to get me to the cheering crowd at the end without passing out mid way?! I'm a qualified personal trainer so surely I should know how to put together a halfie training program, I mean how hard can it be? A couple of runs, maybe 3 a week and boom your feeling Olympic and the medal is around your neck, yes? Well actually no! Running isn't just about running! Huh? What do you mean? What I mean is that you can't just run, you've got to incorporate other exercises and rituals into your plan in order to prevent injuries. All running and no stretching or cross training makes for one very broken body.

Let's break it down into 5 things we should focus on whilst running & 5 easy things we can focus on after our run to ensure we don't need a zimmer frame earlier than necessary....

5 things to focus on when running

1. Focus on your butt muscles - yup it's weird one and sometimes a hard one to remember to do. When you're running it's very easy to get side tracked by the breeze or that gorgeous house on the corner but your butt is like your breathing you've got to keep bringing yourself back to it. By focusing on your butt you're giving your run power and stability.

2. Have a running mantra - how do you want to feel? Free, capable, real, strong, powerful, fast, determined. Repeating it to yourself during your run will empower you to achieve your running goals.

3. Pinching a chip/crisp - say what? A friend taught me this nifty trick to keep my shoulders relaxed through out my runs and it works a charm! Imagine you've got a Lays (or whatever brand you prefer) chip in between your thumb and index finger and you can't break it. Now RELAX otherwise that chip is going to crumble!

4. Keep your chest proud and upright when you're trying to conquer hills, it will ease the pain of the steep climb.

5. Imagine you're as light as a feather - land softly on your feet, moving through your feet from ball to heel. You should only hear a whisper of sound between your shoe and the ground.

5 things to focus on after the run or on your rest days

1. Did you know that that gorgeous butt of yours is not only for looking good in your jeans but also for supporting your lower back and giving you the power to finish your run at Bolt pace. If you've got a bit of a jiggly ass then it's time to work on it. Squats and lunges work the best and are easily done anywhere!

2. Joseph Pilates was a God send! Your core is, as the word says, the center of you and that's where every part of your body operates from. A strong core gives your whole body the strength it needs to power through the run. Give Pilates a try, trust me you will never be the same again!

3. Streeeeeeeeettcccccchhhhhhhh - yes you've gotta do it and if you don't you'll pick up an injury pretty quickly!

4.  Work on your arm muscles they'll give you the pumping power to conquer any distance.

5. Enter a race and get a running buddy. The race is a goal for you to work towards and the buddy is to keep you company on the long roads ahead!

India Dreaming

Right now I'm being inspired by my dreams of traveling in India and the healing of my body through yoga. I've signed up to yogaglo.com and am totally hooked, if you don't have a yoga teacher nearby this is seriously the next best thing! Here are some pictures that I've been admiring, aren't they just so lovely and so calming?!

Be, do & Have Freebie

Everyone seems to get a little 'woo woo' at this time of the year and I love it! There's freedom at this time of year to crack yourself open, honestly express you'd like to make changes in your life and declare your dreams to the world. But the heart breaking thing is that once most people have gotten over their New Year's hangover the dreams are long forgotten and the old habits are back in full swing! All that 'woo wooness' has been swept under the carpet and left to die a sad miserable death.

What's that you say not you and not this year!

I never laugh at someone when they make a NY resolution, why? Well one New Years day I woke up, declared to my flatmate that 2008 was going to be the year I join the gym and actually use my membership. She laughed while I trembled at my own declaration but little did I know then that was the start of something MEGA HUGE.... not only did I make it to the gym, I ran a 10km, I got a personal trainer and then I went on to qualify as a personal trainer! And I'm still loving my 'new found' healthy lifestyle and I totally believe it was all down to that one powerful New Years day declaration.

This year I didn't make any profound declarations, I know of one I should have made but I'll leave it untill next year or maybe next month, but the reason I probably didn't this year is because there is so much I want to be, do & have and how could it all possibly fit into one declaration?!? My declaration in 2008 was so clear, exact and was said with such passion that I just knew it would happen that's why this year I've created this lovely be,do & have printable to get really clear about what I want!

As Denise Duffield Thomas says in Get Rich, Lucky Bitch, 'It's (be,do & have list) a simple way to keep your goals top of mind and the Universe will start to rearrange itself for you when it knows exactly what you want.' She also advises writing them down every day, shoooweee that's a toughee, but seriously how long could something so simple take? 5 minutes? 10 minutes max? If it's top of your mind it will be easy for you to do! Denise goes on to say 'Writing out your goals every day would be awesome. Every other day will create amazing things and even just doing them once a week or month will put you so far ahead of the game it's not funny.'  I just love the 'It's not funny' part - so Denise DT!

So with you, me & our big 2014 dreams in mind I've created this beautiful be, do & have printable that you can use everyday to scribble out your goals and be totally awesome! All you have to do is sign up to my monthly newsletter and it's all yours!

Words to live by in 2014

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'If you don't start planting flowers you will be forever planting weeds'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spent the last week of 2013 blissfully unaware of the time, the day and the date as I got lost in a sea of beautiful words. My bedside table was piled high with gorgeous inspiring books that my Reiki healer had lovingly given to me and I had 10 days of nothingness to read to my absolute hearts content. It was the perfect end to a very good year.

The many hours of contemplation and reading had me mulling over several words (and phrases) that I'd like to guide me in 2014. I've finally settled on these words of intention for a very amazing year to come...

Unconditional Love
Having an open heart and no desire to change myself or those around me. To feel content about my life and everything as it is. To be in a poised, present, powerful and patient state of heart & soul.

Inner Certainty
An inner knowing that everything I dream materialises into the form I'd love the most. A knowing that I am living on purpose and on the right path.

As it is
Where I am is where I am meant to be. Taking a deep breath and being totally present in the moment. Not wishing to be anywhere else but exactly where I am & be grateful for every aspect of where I am.

Boundless Energy
Rising with the sun, breathing in the fresh air and taking a few moments to read, write, meditate, exercise and set the intention for the day. Energy to give my best at work, in my relationship, to my family and to my future.

& lastly and quite possibly the one I always want... Freedom
Creative time to express myself on my blog, genuinely, truthfully & passionately. Holidays that turn into month long stays, exploration, self-discovery. Endless of hours of deep, meaningful conversations that touch the soul. Ataraxia. To want something and have it!
